Topiramate - Anticonvulsant activity may be due to a combination of potential mechanisms: Blocks neuronal voltage-dependent sodium channels, enhances GABA (A ) activity, antagonizes AMPA/kainate glutamate receptors, and weakly inhibits carbonic anhydrase.

Indications

PEDIATRIC ORAL

  • Neonatal seizures
  • Neurotectant following anoxic injury (with cooling)
  • Primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures
  • Prophylaxis migraine

Directions

May be administer without regard to meal.
